  • Inspiring the Next Generation of Confident Speakers at the Ernst & Young Foundation

I recently had the pleasure of delivering another public speaking workshop for the talented and ambitious young people at the Ernst & Young Foundation. Every session reminds me why I am so passionate about helping others develop confidence in speaking.

After a short introduction to the fundamentals of effective communication, we explored practical techniques such as confident body language(i.e. eye contact), using purposeful pauses, and one of the most powerful tools in public speaking – Storytelling.

The real highlight, however, was seeing the participants put these techniques into practice. Within a short space of time, they delivered speeches that were engaging, authentic and inspiring. We heard personal stories, humorous anecdotes and deeply moving experiences. It was wonderful to watch their confidence grow as they spoke.

What continues to impress me is the incredible talent, curiosity and willingness to learn that these young people bring to every workshop. They are not only eager to improve but also supportive of one another, creating an environment in which everyone can develop as a speaker.

A special thank you goes to Megan Young at the Ernst & Young Foundation for organising and supporting these workshops. Her commitment to helping young people build confidence and prepare for the workplace makes these sessions possible, and it is a privilege to work alongside her.

I look forward to continuing this partnership and helping many more young people discover that confident communication is a skill that can be learned, practised and enjoyed.
